O: Cloudburst Summit to Buckhorn Campground: Hike and Protect!
Forest Committee, 20s30s Singles

Come and spend your Sunday hiking into an amazing area that deserves wilderness protection. On this hike in the upper San Gabriels (33 miles north of La Canada) you will experience remote nature, giant trees, picturesque streams and learn more about how you can easily help the protection effort. This area provides lovely views of Jeffrey and sugar pine trees, along with cedar, alder and oak. This is a moderate 6 mile, 1300' loss and gain hike. Pace should be 2 miles per hour.

This hike, although provisional, is geared toward well-conditioned beginners or experienced hikers. Our goal is to have fun, enjoy the aesthetic beauty of our local mountains, and learn about what we can do to protect our most beautiful areas for future generations. Bring boots, sun protection, minimum of two liters of water, lunch, and a food item to share. Meet at 9 A.M. at the La Canada rideshare point (From the 210 Freeway exit Angeles Crest Hwy and turn north, towards the mountains. Park on the right hand side of the road about a block north of the freeway). Heavy rain cancels. Leaders: Erik Muehlberger (provisional) and Erik Counseller.

After the hike, the provisional leader may head to Newcomb's Ranch for a tall cool one. All are welcome to join him and his wife.

The hike is 6 miles roundtrip, 700' gain. There will be stream crossings and boulder hopping, so you are likely to get wet. Meet at 8:30 am at the Azusa rideshare point (from the 210 Freeway exit Azusa Ave/Hwy 39 in the City of Azusa and head north.
